Bristol Hate Crime Services (BHCS) is made up of the following organisations:
Stand Against Racism & Inequality (SARI)
Specialising in race and faith based hate crime and coordinating the service for all types of hate crime.
Supporting Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans communities and tackling homophobia, biphobia and transphobia.
Supporting disabled people and tackling disablist abuse.
Supporting those with mental health needs and promoting better mental health for all.
When a hate crime is reported to the main office at SARI, a worker from one of the above organisations will be allocated to the case.
Hate Crime is:
A crime motivated by prejudice against a person because of their:
- Ethnicity or race
- Disability, including mental health & learning difficulties
- Sexual orientation
- Gender identity
- Religion or belief
- Age, gender, marital or pregnancy status
Hate Crime can be:
- A physical attack, like hitting
- Name calling or bad gestures
- Threats, harassment or intimidation
- Damage to property
- Nasty letters, emails, texts, phone calls, social media messages etc.

SARI in collaboration with Brandon Trust, Bristol Mind and LGBT Bristol are Bristol’s Hate Crime Services (BHCS).
